Bluegrass Cover – “I Gotta Feeling”

Great cover by The Cleverlys

Tree of Light

The Piece :
The “Tree of Light” will be constructed from recycled, reclaimed and local wood and will stand over 20 feet tall. Lights with a pull switch will be hanging from each of the tree branches. People are invited to interact with the piece by turning the lights on and off. The hope is that we will help participants investigate their contribution to the creativity of their city through the medium of light.

The Philosophy :
The project itself is all about connectivity. The ideation process is the result of a collection of artists who asked how we can use our creativity to help bring beauty to our city. Our desire is not only collaboration with one another but with those viewing the project. The piece invites individuals from simply being spectators to participants.

The Location :
The tree will be placed for a period of time in a high traffic area of downtown Orlando as a locally created public art piece and then – depending on funding – set up in other cities.

Guest Post: Protect Your Mac

Guest blogger bio: Anthony Boulier is a blogger at irreverentcolective.com. He has been serving with thElement Student Ministry for 5 years and he’s become a great friend.

So I’ve recently found ways for my paranoia of my things getting stolen to relax a little and thought it would be nice to share this information on here. Sadly this isn’t common knowledge and it should be, especially if the technology you own is expensive and not the cheapest to replace.

Luckily there are options out there for free and very inexpensive ways to protect your stuff, or make it possible to locate your items.

First tip is for iPhone. iPad and iTouch Owners …

If you have recently gotten one of these you’re one of the lucky people who gets a free limited Mobile Me account. Now limited sounds pretty lame and it kind of is, but what you’re limited to

is not. You’re allowed to use the “Find My Phone” feature absolutely free and it’s pretty easy to set up and use.

1. Go into your Settings and select “Mails, Contacts, Calendars”
2. Under “Accounts” select “Add Account…”
3. Select the mobileme icon
4. Then at the bottom select “Create Free Apple ID”
5. Fill out the information and follow the additional steps
6. When done go into the MobileMe account you just added and turn on “Find My Phone”

You can then go the www.me.com, sign in, and see where your phone is, lock or wipe it to protect your data, and send it messages telling people who happen to  find your phone where to call to give it back to you.

(Added tip: If you have restrictions enabled you can make it to where you’re the only one who  can add/delete accounts so if you loose your phone, no one can turn this feature off)

Looking forward to seeing what other commercials rise to the top tomorrow during the Super Bowl.

Bellarive Music Video: Project Light

The Project:

On February 12, we are having a show at Relevant Magazine’s warehouse in downtown Orlando (1220 Alden Road, Orlando FL 32803) at 7:30pm. Not only will we have the privilege of singing and worshiping with you, but we will also be shooting a new music video! This video is going to be the platform for our new website which will be launching very soon!!!!

The success of this video is entirely dependent on your actions and contributions, so pay attention! …. no pressure.

Here are some details of the night:

The price of admission: Free, BUT you must bring:
1. Singing voice
2. Handheld video camera (Handycam, iPhone, Smartphone). Bring anything you can, but we are looking for as many cameras that shoot in 720p or higher. (iPhone4, Android, Galaxy S phone’s have these capabilities!)
3. Light bulb

Sounds crazy, we know, so watch this video for an explanation of what we are going to do with all of these things!

One last thing… if you can make the picture that is on the event page your profile picture until after the show, that would be AWESOME and greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Seriously, you have no idea how grateful we are for each of you. Thank you for believing in what God is doing and for being on board to see the Kingdom come through music in this way. We love you more than words can say!

So much love,
Bellarive

Multi-Campus Church Facts

I’m currently the Student Ministries Pastor for a multi-campus church in Orlando Florida. Having multiple campuses seems to be a growing trend in church culture and I’m on a personal quest to have a better understanding of them.

Here are a few fact facts I found about multi-campus churches …

  • Multisite churches outnumber megachurches.
  • Two-thirds of multisite churches are denominational.
  • Multisites reach more people and mobilize more volunteers.
  • One in three multisites added a campus through a merger.
  • One in four multisite have a campus in another language.
  • One in five multisites birthed a “grandchild” campus.
  • One in 10 have an Internet campus.
  • In-person teaching is utilized more than video.
