Jesus Christ Bail Bonds?
I’ve heard of pastors who have a side job but give me a break!
Obviously this is a ridicules example but how do you feel about your pastor having a side job? What are the pros and cons?

I feel like pastors should be provided for by their church. Not in excess, but enough to remove the necessity of a side job. I guess what im trying to say is the side job shouldnt be for lack of money, but if the pastor wants to have a side job, i guess im for it. Thinking about getting a part-time job?
Well said Kenny. It seems The Church has slacked on taking care of their pastors. I’m not thinking abut getting one myself, but I have in the past. There are times that I feel like i need one though to provide for my wife and I.
here’s my two cents:
If a pastor wants a second job that is fine, as long as Jesus Christ, their family and the ministry is put first… in that order!!! If it gets in the way of any of those 3 things – then that’s a BIG NO NO!
Often times, pastors seeks a side job for more income to meet the needs of the family, which is okay. Alot of smaller churches have pastors that are bi-vocational. I believe the church should take care of pastors (senior/lead, executive, kids, and youth) within the church. These are the people that are dedicating themselves and often times, using their personal resources, finances, and time to the ministry God has CALLED them to.

That extra job makes for quite the balancing act. Most of us find it difficult to balance those top 3 you mentioned.
I struggle that many churches intentionally choose not to take care of their pastors. To often pastors are treated as shepherds of old and compensated as such.
I’ve always had a job and served as a student pastor for the past 10 years. While serving at my last church I had 3 other jobs in order to keep my bills paid.
All I can say is that it’s hard. If I had a choice I’d pour myself fully into the church and forget the other jobs. When you work other jobs you’re forced to chose between your bills and your passion. Sure I brought my passion and loved serving as a student pastor. Students are my love and my calling from God. The only problem is that most churches aren’t willing to pay enough where student pastors can be focused on serving there.
When it comes down to the end of the day I think taking care of my family and being responsible financially came before my serving at church. I think God’s pleased with this.
good way to put it… Family comes before ministry. God is please!
Im not sure why some churches give student/youth pastors the short end of the stick when it comes to resources, salary and budget.. but it will all work out.
